The New Girls

Do you remember when there was a new kid in class? The kid would look at the floor when introduced to the class, then sheepishly ease down the row to sit in the desk assigned by the teacher.

That is NOT how it went when I brought these new beauties home. These new girls boldly walked into my closet and said, "Move over. You're in my spot."


This is Gigi. She's from Paris. She smokes and sips espresso from demitasse cups at sidewalk cafes. Her scarf is always perfectly draped in that messy-but-I-meant-for-it-to-look-like-this way. She can't commit to just one man. She's flirty.


This is Amelia. She is also from Paris, but she's from the 14th arrondissements, home of open air art markets. She is a one-of-a-kind original. She is quiet, yet bold. She has a certain look about her that lets you know she's always a lady, but she means business.



Eleanor. Stately. Fashionable. Matter-of-fact. Will tell you when you have food in your teeth. You better return the favor for her. She can handle the truth.

This is Sophia. She is a outerwear girl. She likes cold weather and heavy wool coats. She loves hot chocolate. She's a snuggler. She is looking for a rockin' Burberry scarf to be her sidekick. Sophia is a little jealous of Ruby right now.

"Why?" you ask.

Because Ruby found a sidekick.

Who does she think she is? She strolled in with these rosette peep-toed friends a few weeks ago. She told me to pair them up with a black pencil skirt and a white ruffled blouse. And if that wasn't enough, she ordered me to find a red scarf to tie to my black Dior bag. Ruby has gotten a little pushy! But I did forgive her when I received many compliments on the pairing. She gave me that "I told you so" look. Pushy, I tell you.
