I'm glad to be back in Little Town, Big State. Skibbie is learning to do her own laundry (yes, I'm passing the buck to the next generation as soon as possible!) . Action is gearing up for our other religion, Football. He's playing pee wee this year, so the helmet and pad fitting took place a couple of weeks ago. We decided that running in the pads and helmet in the Mississippi heat would be good conditioning, so we took the gear with us. We started out early a couple of mornings - picture this now - a little kid in shoulder pads with white jersey and a grey nondiscript helmet followed by his mother wearing a ballcap with flapping ponytail running down a country road followed by the skinny hunting dog darting from side-to-side looking for an opportunity to stop either person by laying down on the road in front of them just to get some attention. I'm telling you, people, this is why movies about Southern people always have crazies in it - scenes like this.
I bet you're wondering what happened to Gary while we were gone. Well, Gary "stoled away", as Action says, in his suitcase. Gary, getting a little to big for his britches, was like PeeWee Herman on a big adventure all his own. Gary got to know the farm and was actually good in the car. We discovered that Gary doesn't have the best manners, so he couldn't go on every outing. I guess there's no charm school at the Goodwill in Austin.

Look - there's that country road that the little kid with the football gear and his crazy mama run down in the mornings. Wonder if they ever pet that dawg?
