The photos speak for themselves

We went to the Trophy Hunters Association's trade show, Hunter Extravaganza, last night. There was lots to see and do, especially for the kids. I knew it was going to be a good show when we pulled into the parking lot and saw row after row of Big Huntin' Truck after Big Huntin' Truck. The Pros are in town! My photo essay is below.

WARNING! If you aren't a gun-totin', NRA-card-carrin', taxidermy-lovin' kind of person, these photos may offend you.

There's something for everyone at this show. Look! Home decoratives right next to the deer stands. There were about twelve women and 986 men there.

This is the crazy man who wrangles rattlers. Look there's one of the twelve women there (or was she the same one in the photo before?).

This is the rattler in full strike-mode. Look at the rattler shake.

Action at the fishin' hole - he actually caught a fish, but they didn't net it time. It was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big!

Skibbie shot out one of those balloons. She's actually a really good shot. Too bad the deer in the woods don't have big red balloons on their butts.

Here is the rare turk-jack-pheas-alope. (say that 10 times)

Pig Roast anyone?

Yes, that Bear is lookin' at you. Avoid eye contact!

This is a small "field utility vehicle". We saw MUCH larger ones with lots more gear. There was one with a blind on top that scissored-up like a cherry picker.
We were disappointed that we didn't see more decoys. We scored a cool flashlight, saw a shipping container that had been turned into a camp, and investigated all the places you can hunt all over the world. These photos represent only a portion of the bagged, tagged and stuffed animals we saw. I wish I had taken more photos, but the 986 men didn't seem to care for this 1 woman or her camera.

You'd been alright if you'd had any camo on. Even a DU hat would have been acceptable. But you didn't so I'm sure their thought was more like, "she should have stayed home---just like she does when he goes huntin'." Next time, wear camo and look enthusastically at something dead, then say somethin' like, "this looks just like the one I shot and had stuffed last year!" You'll be in then. --Robyn
